Following the breakup of the Models and the commercial disappointment of his initial solo effort, James Freud teamed with Mental As Anything's Martin Plaza to establish the dance-oriented Beatfish. The pair's shared enthusiasm for soul and R&B startled followers of both the Models and the Mentals, producing results far removed from anything the two musicians had previously recorded. Their self-titled debut appeared in Australia in 1991 on RCA, showcasing several strong dance tracks including "All Around The World" and "Wheels Of Love," though the bulk of the album came across as generic R&B from a pair of white guys from Australia. Following the additional single—a standout cover of the Youngbloods' "Get Together"—Plaza resumed his solo work and his role with the Mentals, while Freud maintained a low profile thereafter.
