Biography
Formed as a quartet in San Francisco, Beatnik Beatch specialized in pop and rock material. Their only album appeared in 1987 on the independent Industrial label and carried the title At the Zulu Beach. Atlantic Records issued a reworked edition two years later under the band’s own name, excising five tracks and inserting four replacements. After the group disbanded, drummer-vocalist Andy Sturmer and keyboardist Roger Manning established the more successful Jellyfish.
