Biography
Beehive and the Barracudas draws its lineup from Rocket From The Crypt, PeeChees and Red Aunts. The group laid down its debut album, Featuring The Insects, during the fall of 1998. Flapping Jet had been slated to issue the record, yet a disagreement caused the project to be set aside for an extended period. Several tracks later surfaced online, drawing an enthusiastic response. Between commitments to their main bands, Beehive and the Barracudas played shows throughout the San Diego area. Swami Records finally brought out Featuring The Insects in July 2001. The follow-up album, Plastic Soul w/The White Apes, arrived in October 2001. The band specializes in a classic garage-rock approach that fuses guitar-driven rock with soul.
