Bekki Williams entered the world in Nottingham during 1972. Her first solo concert took place when she reached the age of eight. Two years afterward she commenced formal classical studies on the flute through the South Nottingham School of Music. A music scholarship came her way at age eleven. Piano instruction followed once she turned thirteen. Any instrument that sparked her interest proved quick to master, among them the saxophone. Williams finished building a personal studio in 1990 and launched into both composing and recording original material. Soundtrack composers Danny Elfman, Brad Fiedel, and Grahaeme Revelle left a clear mark on the textures and direction of her work.

Recording sessions for her first solo album, Elysian Fields, occupied Williams by 1993. The project appeared in spring 1996 and drew enthusiastic notices from reviewers. Greek-mythology themes surface throughout the record, notably on the pieces “A Glance From Medusa” and “Secrets of the Labyrinth.” Several selections from Elysian Fields later surfaced on various compilation releases throughout the remainder of the decade. Fundamental synthesizer arrangements remain the element for which many listeners know her best. Near the close of 1997 she completed her second album, Shadow of the Wind. Tracks such as “River of Night’s Dreaming,” “Mistral,” “The Talisman,” and “Azmara” earned her notice across both the United States and Europe. Work on a third album, The Edge of Human, began in 2000. Outside the studio she continues to expand her audience through frequent live performances.
