Alabama's Belle Adair operate as a melodic rock and power pop-influenced group built around frontman Matt Green, who handles lead vocals, guitar, and songwriting duties. The project took shape in Florence, Alabama, during 2011, when Green first joined forces with his childhood friend Ben Tanner, a keyboardist then touring with Alabama Shakes. After issuing an EP that same year, the band delivered its debut full-length, The Brave and the Blue, in 2013 via Tanner's Single Lock Records. Early live work included opening slots for Alabama Shakes, yet Tanner later withdrew from regular involvement. The core lineup then coalesced around Green alongside guitarist Adam Morrow, bassist Hayden Crawford, and drummer Reed Watson. Over the ensuing years, however, fresh studio work remained on pause while Green toured with Dylan LeBlanc and Belle Adair subsequently backed Donnie Fritts on the road. Once home, the group tracked its follow-up at the historic FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals. Issued in 2018, Tuscumbia arrived with Tom Schick (Wilco, Norah Jones, Ryan Adams) at the helm and featured the single "Get Away."
