Biography
This French pair consisted of bassist Fred, previously handling guitars and vocals in Daily Planets, alongside drummer Franck, a former Mush participant. The pair first crossed paths at university, where they began improvising together without knowing whether a guitarist would eventually join. They stayed a two-piece after landing opening slots for acts appearing at the bar where Fred held a job. Their debut album Both arrived in 1996, featuring eight tracks that comprised five full songs plus three brief musical interludes and delivering an energetic blend of indie rock and experimental rock. The next year saw the 10" Cool Jazz With a Punk Attitude, a joint release with the rock duo Dèche Dans Face. Also in 1997 the band issued its second and final album, Debeso. Early in 1998 Franck launched the Sonore label, focused on international experimental music, and permanently shelved the Belly Button project, while Fred continued performing in various configurations. In 2001 he recorded with his deviant rock & roll outfit Fredovitch, contributing keyboards and organ alongside a drummer.
