Biography
After beginning his musical journey with hard rock ensembles in Glasgow, Scotland, singer/songwriter Ben Godwin shifted toward the acoustic anti-folk style for presenting his work. His initial recordings included the 2002 EP Four Songs, succeeded by =shinyshiny= in 2004 and Lighter Than the Atom in 2005. Relocating to New York City that year, Godwin engaged in songwriting, live performances, and album production for fellow artists while also contributing to LIFEbeat, an organization dedicated to HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention via music initiatives. Drawing from the urban environment and vocalists such as Tom Waits and Jeff Buckley, he issued his inaugural full-length album, Skin and Bone, in 2007 through his independent imprint Karmafarm.
