Guitarists Fred Benedetti and George Svoboda each bring substantial experience to both their individual work and their joint efforts. Together they have performed as the new age duo Benedetti & Svoboda for more than ten years, issuing four albums in total. Two of those releases, Scirocco Desert Wind and Zephyr, incorporate pan-global musical influences, while Flamenco Dreams and Spanish Gardens investigate fresh approaches to flamenco. The pair also created and performed the score for a fresh staging of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing mounted at San Diego’s Old Globe.

Benedetti’s independent path includes participation in master classes led by Andrés Segovia, Pepe Romero, and Christopher Parkening. He has appeared alongside Dave Brubeck, Luciano Pavarotti, the San Diego Symphony, the San Diego Opera, and the American Ballet Company. In addition to these performances, he serves as professor of music and chair of guitar studies at Grossmont College while holding a guitar faculty position at San Diego State University.

Born in Czechoslovakia, Svoboda instructed students in music and guitar theory through that country’s Public Schools of Art. After relocating to the United States he has taught guitar at Mesa College and Grossmont College, maintains faculty appointments at CSU San Marcos and San Diego State University, and acts as Artist in Residence within San Diego’s public schools.
