Biography
Benumb, the grindcore outfit based in Oakland, California, first appeared in the mid-1990s through a rapid series of recordings, most of them split singles and EPs made with groups such as Apartment 213, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Supression and Short Hate Temper. After signing with the Relapse label, the band delivered the Gear in the Machine EP in 1997, while the full-length Soul of the Martyr arrived the following year. Withering Stands of Hope surfaced in 2000.
