Biography
Working as a DJ and producer, Berlioz crafts atmospheric jazz-house compositions that fuse acoustic instrumentation with electronic rhythms. His first release arrived in 2023 as the EP Jazz Is for Ordinary People, followed in 2024 by the album Open This Wall.
Jasper Edward Attlee entered the world in Cape Town, South Africa, before relocating to Cornwall, England, for his upbringing. There his parents introduced him to jazz during childhood, while he simultaneously cultivated a passion for electronic music. After mastering software such as Logic Pro and Ableton on his own, he began producing original material and sharing it online under the alias Ted Jasper. Over time he wove jazz elements into his productions, drawing from the legacies of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Additional creative fuel came from cinema and visual art, particularly the films of David Lynch and Wes Anderson alongside the paintings of Henri Matisse. The moniker Berlioz was chosen in reference to the gray-furred kitten featured in Disney’s 1970 animated feature The Aristocats. His debut EP, Jazz Is for Ordinary People, appeared in 2023, and the following year he broadened his palette on the full-length Open This Wall.
