Biography
Bernard Xolotl entered the world in France during 1951, establishing himself as a composer in the electronic realm. In his adolescent years, exposure to electronic music arrived via musique concrète figures such as Pierre Henry and Pierre Schaeffer, yet the initial Pink Floyd albums proved far more influential. Departing his residence at seventeen, he embarked on global journeys that led to encounters with Klaus Schulze, Terry Riley, La Monte Young, and Manuel Goettsching. Xolotl initiated his personal musical creations in the early 1970s, utilizing facilities throughout Europe and the United States prior to establishing residence in California during 1974. Gradually constructing a personal studio in that location, he achieved his first release two years afterward via Music by Xolotl. The 1978 project Journey to an Oracle emerged from partnerships with Bernard Largounez and Jean Baptiste Barriere, whereas Prophecy from 1980 involved collaboration with Cyrille Verdeaux. Return of the Golden Mean came next, and Procession reached completion in 1983. Known primarily for guitar synthesizer contributions, Xolotl broadened his sonic resources on Last Wave through incorporation of the Yamaha CS60, PPG Wave 2.2, Korg Monopoly, Pro-One, ARP Sequencer, and vocoder. Following an extended period without new recordings, Mexecho marked his return in 1991, succeeded by Tristany in 1997.
