Biography
A seasoned performer and creator based in Atlanta, Georgia, Beth Michaels has spent more than fifteen years captivating audiences at both public events and private celebrations with her distinctive blend of carefully shaped melodies delivered in warm, close-knit surroundings. Her command of the foundational elements of blues, jazz, and classical traditions, paired with a wide-ranging selection of varied material, has positioned her as a favored artist for many of the city’s most refined social and personal occasions. Among those she has played for are Ted Turner, former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young, and Hyatt Hotels Corporation President Darryl Hartley-Leonard, earning enthusiastic praise at distinguished locations such as the Fox Theatre Egyptian Ballroom and the High Museum of Art.
Michaels has issued five complete albums while also contributing music to visual and broadcast projects, including scores for science fiction writer Piers Anthony, advertisements for BMW and the Weather Channel, and the worldwide boarding music used by Delta Airlines. Her piece “Winddance” earned top honors in the New Age/Jazz division of the Atlanta Songwriter’s Association contest. The track “The Swan,” drawn from her album Rush Hour, appeared on the national release First Flight alongside works by nine other Atlanta composers collectively known as Palomino Duck; the ensemble, joined by Michaels, later served as the opening act for Yanni at Lakewood Amphitheatre.
Her body of original instrumental works stands out for its graceful phrasing, appealing melodic lines, and contemplative, uplifting character, stirring thought while moving the spirit and emotions. Rush Hour itself introduced an effective promotional concept framed as “peaceful piano playing for calming the captive commuter.” Performing with passionate drive and an elegant romantic touch at the keyboard, Michaels allows her abilities to deepen with each passing year. Her recordings, supported by orchestral layers and layered synthesizers, consistently convey the essence of the piano in a manner that sustains listener engagement and affirms personal value.
