Biography
Betty Bennett, an experienced vocalist with a sometimes sultry delivery, also studied piano while enrolled at Drake University. In 1943 she performed with Georgie Auld, and after her discharge from the navy in 1945 she appeared with multiple bands, including orchestras fronted by Claude Thornhill, Alvino Rey, Charlie Ventura, Woody Herman, Charlie Barnet and Stan Kenton. She wed Andre Previn in the mid-'50s and recorded two albums under his direction. Following her divorce from Previn she married Mundell Lowe. By the late '80s she was touring Europe with Lowe and served as a featured performer on opening night at London's Wolsey's club.
