Recognized as a leading singer-songwriter from West Africa, Bidinte, whose birth name is Jorge Da Silva Bidinite, blends Afro-Portuguese rhythms, Guinean gumbe, and flamenco into a sound all his own. Born in Boloma, a modest port town located in the Bijagos Islands, he relocated alongside his family to the Ajada neighborhood. The vibrant musical atmosphere there prompted him to master the guitar on his own and start composing original material. In 1978, he took the stage at a youth festival held in Havana, Cuba. During a 1988 appearance at a journalists' conference in Lisbon, Portugal, Bidinte encountered various artists such as Justino Delgado, leading to the creation of the group Docolma and the release of three albums together. His artistic development reached a pivotal moment through a performance in Madrid, Spain, during 1992. By diving into the local music environment, he developed a passion for flamenco's elaborate melodies and detailed rhythmic patterns.
