Biography
Emerging as a Latin rock outfit in the closing years of the 1990s, Big Fat Hen tracked its debut album across December 1997 and January 1998 before unveiling the project that June under the Uptown title. Not long afterward, the group placed the track “Somos Panameños” on a regional rock anthology, its first recording in Spanish. Having already issued Small in 1994, Big Fat Hen relocated to the U.S. and played shows in Miami and New York. In the same stretch, bassist Giancarlo Rivera, previously of Purple Cows, joined the lineup. During 1999 the band landed an opening slot for Molotov in Mexico. The next year, with Alberto Bermudez replacing Andrew Rodanillo on drums, Big Fat Hen released Medicine.
