Biography
In 1984 Manhattan saw the launch of Big Fat Love under the leadership of singer/guitarist John Berry, who had co-founded the Beastie Boys three years prior. Bassist Bosco, guitarist Eric Hubel and drummer Michael Diamond—known to Beastie Boys fans as Mike D.—rounded out the original roster, yet the configuration collapsed almost immediately when Diamond departed. Berry soon followed, after which vocalist Tom Cushman and drummer Erik Talbert joined and the band resumed activity by supporting Big Audio Dynamite on a string of 1987 shows. B.A.D. frontman Mick Jones then consented to produce a session, but once three tracks were captured Bosco relocated to the tropics and the group disbanded. Bosco resurfaced in New York in the early 1990s and persuaded the others to reconvene for new recordings overseen by the Beasties’ Adam Yauch; the resulting album, Hell House, appeared on Grand Royal.
