Born in Jamaica on October 4, 1936, blues singer Big Pete Pearson grew up under the care of his grandparents in St. John's, Texas, close to Austin. Starting at nine years old, he took to the stage in Austin bars, where he picked up guitar and bass skills, leading to an extended stint in local house bands throughout the city. Recording sessions at Peacock Records featured his contributions, and he joined tours alongside T.D. Bell & the Cadillacs. His initial appearances in Phoenix, Arizona, came during the late 1950s, followed by a permanent move there in the 1960s that earned him regional renown. Blue Witch Records put out his debut solo effort, One More Drink, in 2001. The same label issued his follow-up, I'm Here Baby, on February 13, 2007. July 7, 2009, saw Southwest Records deliver Finger in Your Eye, while Modesto Blues Records brought forth The Screamer on August 25 of that year.
