Biography
Hailing from Woodstock, New York, the all-female six-piece Big Sister blends eclectic rock with guitarists and vocalists Lara Parks, Jen Leigh, and Shelly Prior, bassist Desiree Williams, and drummers Lisa Wexler and Denise Parent. The ensemble took shape in the late '80s after Prior and Wexler first collaborated following an introduction at a neighborhood club. Parks entered the picture shortly afterward when she met Wexler during an acting class, and Williams joined once the band had appeared at Woodstock '94. That roster issued Live at the Lake, Why My Mind Just Up and Left, and 1998's Some Songs, after which Leigh and Parent came aboard. Capricorn Records then put out So Hi How Are You in 2000.
