Bill Converse hails from Lansing, Michigan, where exposure to the Detroit techno sound shaped his formative years. After relocating to Austin, Texas in 1998, he assembled an extensive collection of synthesizers and gradually established himself as a DJ and producer, becoming a regular presence in the city’s electronic music community. Working as WWC, he issued the 90-minute cassette Meditations/Industry on the local label Obsolete Future in 2013; the recording contained fluid, hypnotic acid techno tracks. Alienself, a shorter follow-up, appeared in 2014. Converse co-founded the crew Timelife Methrave, which initiated the online radio show Tunnel Dive to spotlight underground electronic producers and DJs. In 2016 the San Francisco-based imprint Dark Entries released an abridged LP version of Meditations/Industry under the name Bill Converse. Warehouse Invocation, an EP drawn from additional material on the original cassette plus one previously unreleased track, came next. The 12" single “7 of 9” appeared on Texas Recordings Underground. July 2017 brought the double 12" Salt of Mars on Tabernacle Records together with The Shape of Things to Come on Dark Entries.
