Biography
Although vocalist Ben Hogg, guitarists Erik Larson and Bo Leslie, bassist Summer Welch, and drummer Dave Witte have each logged time in multiple other metal acts—including Throttlerod, Alabama Thunderpussy, Avail, Burnt by the Sun, Beaten Back to Pure, Municipal Waste, Baroness, and beyond—they still found opportunities to reconvene as Birds of Prey, a project that existed solely for studio work. The group delivered its debut, an eight-song self-titled release, in 1998 and later issued its first Relapse Records effort, Weight of the Wound, in 2006.
