Biography
Forming in Beijing, the trio known as Birdstriking fuses textural shoegaze with an energetic and frequently cathartic strain of indie rock. The members first encountered one another at a 2009 performance by the Chinese art rock outfit Carsick Cars, after which they soon began performing together. An ambitious and fervent sound quickly drew notice from Beijing’s Maybe Mars Records, which signed the group in 2010. Their self-titled debut appeared in China in 2012 and earned widespread critical praise. In the ensuing years the album secured an Australian release before reaching the United States through Anton Newcombe’s A Recordings imprint. To mark the 2015 American reissue of that debut, Birdstriking undertook their first North American tour.
