Biography
Originating from Chicago's Sweet Holy Spirit Church, the gospel choir Bishop Larry Trotter & Sweet Holy Spirit is fronted by a leader who has held the role of senior pastor there for more than three decades. Bishop Trotter first connected with the congregation in the early 1980s, expanded its ranks over time, and went on to produce energetic gospel recordings with the ensemble while touring with them throughout the United States and across six continents. Early projects appeared on the Tyscot Records gospel label, among them Live in 1995, Prayer Will Move It! in 1996, and What's to Come Is Better Than What's Been in 1999. The ensuing decade brought Tell the Devil I'm Back, Next Dimension, Already Looking Bettah!, and 2009's I Still Believe, which rose to number eight on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart. How Far Back Can You Go?, Vol. 1: Just Sunday Morning Church surfaced in 2010 on Trotter's own Utopia Music Group imprint, and Praise Revisited followed in 2013 via Entertainment One, also landing inside the gospel chart's Top 20. How Far Back Can You Go?, Vol. 2: Church Unplugged was slated for late 2016.
