Bison b.c.

Emerging from Canada, the doom metal band Bison B.C.—occasionally shortened to Bison—arose from Vancouver’s well-known skate-thrash group S.T.R.E.E.T.S. The four musicians—guitarists and vocalists James Farwell and Dan And, bassist Masa Anzai, and drummer Brad MacKinnon—channeled their punk and hardcore background into sludge metal on the debut album Earthbound, which drew interest from Metal Blade Records. That connection produced the 2008 album Quiet Earth, helmed by Jesse Gander (3 Inches of Blood, Subhumans), and paved the way for the later releases Dark Ages in 2010, Lovelessness in 2012, the One Thousand Needles EP in 2014, and You Are Not the Ocean You Are the Patient in 2017.
