Bläck Fööss

In 1970 the eclectic German pop collective De Bläck Fööss came together in Cologne. Their name, taken from the Kölsch dialect of the members and meaning “barefoot,” arose from an early habit of performing without shoes. Celebrated for a cappella breakdowns, carnival tunes, and spontaneous versions of enduring jazz, rock, reggae, and blues material, De Bläck Fööss have assembled an extensive catalog of recordings that they continue to expand.
