Biography
San Francisco-based Black Furies draw from '70s punk, '80s hardcore, and straight-up rock & roll to forge their own blazing punk soundtrack. Their self-titled debut appeared on Take Root in 2004, with the EP Meanwhile, Back in the States... arriving the following year. Also in 2004 the band placed tracks on the Wondertaker Records compilation Death Rattle and Roll, Vol. 1. West Coast exposure grew through shared bills with the Dickies, the Angry Samoans, Demons, the Sick, and similar acts. The lineup of Cliff Truesdell (vocals/guitar), Clint Blatchford (guitar/vocals), Michael Scanland (bass/vocals), and Mark Adams (drums) signed with Gearhead during the first half of 2005. Fall dates alongside Million Dollar Marxists preceded the November release of the label debut Death Trip Saturday Night. Black Furies performed at South by Southwest in Austin the next year.
