Black Hawk, a heavy metal outfit, entered the recording scene properly via their 2005 release Twentyfive. The album's name marks twenty-five years from the group's establishment back in 1981 within Mölln, Germany. For close to twenty years the act had labored without success, producing five demos that went unnoticed prior to their 1997 split. An eight-year hiatus ended with a 2005 reunion that brought a delayed rise to recognition, albeit one remaining under the radar. Since that point the lineup featuring Udo Bethke handling lead vocals, Norbert Wieczorek on guitar who was subsequently succeeded by Wolfgang Tewes, Torsten Bettge also on guitar, Michael Wiekenberg on bass, along with Gonzo Loss behind the drums who later gave way to Niko Schaper has issued material at a consistent pace. Among these efforts stand Dragonride from 2007, The Invasion issued in 2008, and Straight to Hell arriving in 2010, each serving as a conduit to the sonic character of 1980s heavy metal.
