Biography
After the Atomic Bitchwax disbanded in early 2002, bassist/vocalist Chris Kosnik redirected his efforts toward Black Nasa, another New Jersey-based stoner rock power trio that had already been underway. In contrast to the Bitchwax’s emphasis on highly virtuosic psychedelic space rock, Kosnik joined forces with guitarist Duane Hutter and drummer Corey Stubblefield to pursue a markedly more restrained and direct hard-rock style. The group’s self-titled debut centers on collective interplay and groove-driven riffs instead of solo excursions or rapid-fire leads, drawing parallels to current acts such as Fu Manchu and Orange Goblin while also nodding to foundational 1970s hard-rock influences.
