Black Sun Ensemble

Formed in Tucson, Arizona, the short-lived psychedelic rock group Black Sun Ensemble came together in 1988 around founding members Jesus Acedo and Odin Helginson, with Michael Glidiwell and Tony Edelbrock completing the lineup. That same year the quartet delivered its self-titled debut on the Reckless label. Three additional albums appeared in quick succession—Lambent Flame in 1989, Tragic Magic in 1990, and Elemental Forces in 1991—before the band disbanded. Activity remained quiet until 2000, when Sky Pilot surfaced, followed in 2001 by a reissue of the original self-titled recording. Jesus Acedo passed away in March 2013 at age 50.
