Born on 24 April 1877 in Boston, Massachusetts, Ring died on 17 January 1961. After an extended period of vaudeville touring she reached Broadway in The Defender (1902), where she performed ‘In The Good Old Summertime’, already established as her own through earlier circuit appearances. Her stage credits included The Merry Widow Burlesque (1908), The Midnight Sons (1909), The Yankee Girl (1910), Strike Up The Band (1930) and Right This Way (1938). Among the songs she introduced to audiences were ‘Come Josephine In My Flying Machine’, ‘I’ve Got Rings On My Fingers’, ‘Yip-I-Addy-I-Ay’ and ‘The ‘Where Has My Hubby Gone’ Blues’. She appeared in several silent films and a limited number of talkies, among them If I Had My Way (1940). Her final unsuccessful marriage was to actor Charles Winninger.
