Biography
Originating as the vision of Hush Records president Chad Crouch, the ensemble first took shape when invited to play a friend's wedding reception. Blending jazz, rock, bossa nova, and pop, Blanket Music kept gigging throughout Portland, OR. Often likened to Belle and Sebastian and Nick Drake, the group issued its debut album, Nice, in 2000 via Hush Records. A split EP alongside Noise for Pretend earned strong approval from critics and listeners alike. Blanket Music followed with another split EP, this time shared with Reclinerland. By 2002 the lineup had expanded to include vocalists Corrina Repp and Esperanza Spalding, resulting in that year's release of Move.
