Biography
Vermont-based Bleach Day started when two friends began tinkering with textures and gradually evolved into a complete performing ensemble that has never abandoned the hazy, inquisitive pop textures of those initial sessions. Their open-hearted studio aesthetic paired naturally with airy, effortless melodies on the 2020 follow-up full-length As If Always.
The group originated as a recording partnership between producers Vinny Marksohn and Louie Kiley. By tracking to an analog multitrack tape machine rather than a standard digital setup, the pair captured blurred sonics that matched their ethereal, low-fidelity sensibility. Those early explorations soon coalesced into drifting pop numbers; the debut album, 2016’s Where to Dream, connected psychedelic indie songcraft with ambient passages. To bring the material onstage, Marksohn and Kiley enlarged the lineup by recruiting auxiliary players Amelia Devoid, Jon Kraus, and Mitch Manacek. The second album, As If Always, reached listeners in 2020 and sharpened the group’s songwriting focus while preserving its psychedelic luster.
