Biography
In 1992 Bill Power sought to revive his post-punk sensibilities rather than persist with grunge, so he retrieved his bass and stepped forward as Blenderhead’s lead vocalist. The band’s emo-tinged angst draped across cohesive power-pop soon drew the notice of Tooth and Nail Records, which issued the EPs Prime Candidate for Burnout and Blue Tile Lounge in 1994. Once the roster stabilized with Matt Johnson on drums and Ed Carrigan and Eben Haase on guitar, Blenderhead delivered its debut full-length Muchacho Vivo the following year. That first U.S. tour supporting labelmates MxPx proved to be the group’s last in 1995, although a self-titled farewell EP appeared the next year—an edition that simply reissued the demo the band had recorded in 1993. As the millennium drew to a close, Blenderhead reconvened and released Figureheads on the Forefront of Pop Culture on Tooth & Nail in late 2000.
