Biography
Blessed by a Broken Heart formed in Quebec, Canada, during 2002 as a six-piece hard rock outfit whose metalcore base gradually absorbed traces of punk, new wave, and hair metal. The founding lineup featured Hugh on vocals, Robbie doubling on guitar and vocals, Simon handling guitar plus keyboards, Nathan on guitar, Tyler on bass, and Frank behind the drums. Their debut full-length, All Is Fair in Love and War, surfaced on the independent imprint Blood & Ink Records in 2005. In early 2007 the band secured a contract with Century Media and welcomed Tony Gambino as lead vocalist, prompting a shift toward keyboard-driven hard rock whose lingering hardcore roots now clashed with pronounced ’80s glam influences; that revised approach defined the 2008 release Pedal to the Metal. Around 2010 the roster stabilized with Gambino still out front, joined by guitarists Shred Sean and Sam Ryder, bassist Tyler Hoare, and drummer Slater. The refreshed configuration delivered the 2012 studio album Feel the Power.
