Biography
The experimental fusion of electronica and black metal guitars under the Bliss Signal banner first surfaced live in 2017, ahead of its capture on the 2018 Drift EP.
U.K. dance innovator Mumdance, also known as Jack Adams, formed the project that year with WIFE of Alter of Plagues, real name James Kelly. Working between their Berlin and London studios, the pair set out to merge WIFE’s black metal guitars with Mumdance’s driving and atmospheric electronica. Their first live appearance took place at Unsound Festival in Krakow, Poland, where they also began recording. After signing a split deal with True Panther Sounds and Profound Lore the next year, they committed the immersive, blissed-out mix of guitar washes, driving electronic rhythms, and subtle black metal vocals to the debut EP Drift. A few months later the self-titled debut album arrived, featuring work with Christian Wright (Radiohead, Ben Frost) and Jaime Gomez-Arellano (Cathedral, Paradise Lost).
