Biography
The Driscoll siblings Erica and Bruce formed Michigan indie rock outfit Blondfire. Initially recording as Astaire, the brother-and-sister pair adopted their present name to circumvent possible legal conflicts with the celebrated actor’s estate. Their sonic identity remained unchanged, centered on the dreamy, melodic electronic-tinged pop that evoked the Cardigans and Metric. A brief 2006 deal with EMI ended before they could finish their first Blondfire album, My Someday, which they issued independently through their own Tender Tender Rush label in 2008. Warner became their home in 2012, and that fall the band issued the EP Where the Kids Are, which placed them on the Billboard charts. All four tracks from the EP later appeared on the 2014 sophomore LP Young Heart. In 2015 Bruce left to concentrate on his own indie pop group, Freedom Fry, while Erica carried on alone under the Blondfire name and released the 2016 EP True Confessions.
