Biography
Associated with the mysterious British creator Dean Blunt among his numerous other endeavors, Blue Iverson ventures into the territory of smooth R&B and funk. Hotep, the project's first release, came together in Los Angeles alongside an assortment of session players that included guitarist Jeff Gitelman of the Stepkids along with vocalists Jennah Bell and Akua. Beyond contributing guitar, drums, and keyboards, Blunt oversaw production and mixing for the effort. Despite consisting mostly of brief instrumentals in place of full-length songs, the concise album conveys a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere that registers as noticeably more direct than the bulk of Blunt's output. Hotep first appeared as a free download in April 2017 before receiving a vinyl edition from Benji B's Deviation label, albeit with a modestly revised track sequence.
