Biography
Taking its name from a well-known jazz composition by the Dave Brubeck Quintet, Blue Rondo A La Turk formed as a British pop band in 1981 under vocalist Chris Sullivan. The remaining members consisted of saxophonists Moses Mount Bassie and Art Collins, drummer Mick "Lloyd" Bynoe, percussionist Geraldo d'Arbilly (b.Brazil), bassist Kito Poncioni (b.Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), guitarist Mark Reilly (b.1960 02 20, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England), vocalist Christos Tolera, trumpeter Tholo Peter Tsegona, and keyboardist Daniel White (b.1959 08 26, Letchwood, Hertfordshire, England). Two charting singles appeared on the debut album Chewing the Fat (1982), among them the Top 40 hit "Me and Mr. Sanchez," yet the group had already disbanded before release of the follow-up Bees Knees and Chicken Elbows (1984).
