Biography
Originating from a partnership between Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu and Jonathan Meiburg of Shearwater, the project Blue Water White Death derives its title from a 1971 documentary focused on shark hunters at Australia’s Dangerous Reef. Though the duo’s output stops short of literal hazard, it carries forward the tension and theatricality familiar from each artist’s main work. With John Congleton of the Paper Chase serving as producer, Stewart and Meiburg composed and tracked a collection of songs across a single week. The completed recordings appeared as Blue Water White Death in October 2010 through Graveface Records.
