Biography
The noise rock outfit Blues Control, hailing from Queens and consisting of Russ Waterhouse handling guitar and electronics alongside Lea Cho on keyboards, gained recognition for their captivating performances. Their initial recording appeared as a self-titled cassette issued by Palsy in January 2006. September of that same year saw the arrival of the Riverboat Styx cassette. In 2007, the pair put out the 12-inch LP Puff via Woodist, the CD-R compilation A Full Tank—which included the earlier Palsy material plus additional tracks—through Managing Expectations, and their CD and LP edition of Blues Control on Holy Mountain, marking their first proper compact disc release. Critics, especially online, praised the Blues Control album most highly among these efforts. Rapidly after came Local Flavor in 2009, the 2011 Frkwys, Vol. 8 project with Laraaji, and Valley Tangents in 2012.
