Biography
Blunt Mechanic took shape near the end of the 2000s in Seattle as Ben Barnett's main creative outlet. The singer, songwriter, and guitarist had previously led Kind of Like Spitting, a band of comparable leanings, from 1996 until its breakup in 2006. The new project highlighted Barnett's command of noisy indie rock, power pop steeped in 1970s influences, and punk, resulting in the release of its first album, World Record, through Barsuk Records in 2010.
