Biography
Joseph Porter, serving as Blyth Power’s songwriter, drummer, and lead vocalist, fronts one of England’s strongest club acts. The ensemble takes its name from a diesel locomotive and has been likened to a blend of the Clash, Steeleye Span, and the Rubettes. Porter is the author of two books: Genesis to Revolutions, an account of the early-’80s British punk scene, and a fictional autobiography of poet Benjamin Johnson. Beginning in February 2000, he has maintained his duties with Blyth Power while performing in the acoustic trio Mad Dogs and Englishmen, whose debut CD, Going Down with Alice, came out on his own imprint, Whippet Records.
