Bob Collins performed as guitarist for the Dentists, the Medway, England outfit responsible for some of the strongest neo-psychedelic pop of the 1980s and for solid indie rock during the band's continued development in the early 1990s. Departing the lineup in 1995, he stepped away from the music industry briefly before resurfacing in 2000 as guitarist and songwriter with Fortune West. He then rejoined ex-Dentists vocalist Mick Murphy to record an album and an EP with Fortress Madonna in 2002. Mid-decade he teamed once more with former Dentist Mark Matthews to launch the Great Lines, which performed at SXSW in 2005 yet issued no recordings. Going solo in 2007, Collins recruited ex-Dentists drummer Rob Grigg and bassist Mark Aitken for the new outfit Bob Collins & the Full Nelson. He simultaneously co-wrote The Kids Are All Square, a history of the mid-1980s Medway scene, appeared with the punk-blues ensemble Stuart Turner & the Flat Earth Society, and assisted in organizing Medway's Homespun Music Festival. These commitments account for the delay until 2015 of the first Full Nelson long-player. Spanning two years of sessions, Telescopic Victory Kiss appeared on the U.S. indie pop imprint Jigsaw Records.
