Biography
Little information exists about the Bob Corwin whose tuba appears on multiple Elvis Presley soundtracks from the mid-1960s, a noteworthy studio credit irrespective of further personal background. This musician does not match the jazz pianist who carried the identical name, although a few persistent investigators have speculated that he could represent the unnamed brother occasionally alluded to by biographers as a big-band performer. The hypothesis remains plausible only if both siblings happened to be called Bob. Regardless of unresolved identity questions, the recognition afforded this tuba player has shifted. Soundtracks for pictures such as Hawaiian Style Elvis originally appeared without naming the studio musicians involved. That situation ended once a special RCA reissue arrived in the early 1990s.
