Biography
Hailing from Brooklyn, Bob Hastings earned his chief recognition through an extensive run of acting and voice work that encompassed many memorable parts. His radio career commenced in the 1940s with the role of Archie Andrews in NBC’s network adaptation of Archie Comics, while 1950s television brought appearances in the small-screen version of No Time for Sergeants plus four seasons as Lieutenant Carpenter on McHale's Navy, after which he assumed the part of Bert Ramsey on the daytime drama General Hospital. The 1970s found him cast as Kelsey the tavern owner on All in the Family amid scattered film roles, before he shifted focus to cartoon voice work. He nevertheless issued at least one full-length LP, Bob Hastings Sings for the Family, containing a blend of folk songs, popular standards, children’s songs, and traditional Irish songs.
