Biography
Serving as the morning-show DJ on Seattle's KISW, Bob Rivers launched his recording career with Weird Al-style song parodies in 1984 through the American Comedy Network's "Breaking Up Is Hard on You (Don't Take Ma Bell Away from Me)." Set to the melody of Neil Sedaka's "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do," the single climbed to number 70. He kept supplying material to the network even as he moved between stations in different cities. Following his creation of the parody "Twisted Christmas" in 1987, Rivers assembled an album built around the track and issued it via Critique Records in 1992. Further Christmas albums arrived in 1993 and 1997, along with two volumes of The Best of Twisted Tunes.
