Bob Saget stood out among comedians as someone cherished equally by audiences seeking wholesome entertainment and those drawn to edgy material. His portrayal of Danny Tanner in the ABC sitcom Full House, which aired between 1987 and 1995, made him a familiar face and led to his role as host of America's Funniest Home Videos throughout much of the following decade. After concluding his involvement with the video program in 1997, Saget focused once more on live performances, emphasizing risqué material, and issued his debut stand-up recording, That's What I'm Talkin' About, during 2013.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Saget set aside his intention to practice medicine in favor of entertainment. Initially enrolled as a film major at Temple University, he shifted his attention to comedic work. Early success came in 1987 with a position on CBS' The Morning Program, though the daytime format proved unsuitable. This paved the way for his casting as Danny Tanner in the family-oriented Full House on ABC, a series that achieved lasting popularity and prompted his selection to host America's Funniest Home Videos starting in 1989. He remained involved with both programs until the middle of the decade. Production on Full House ceased in 1995, after which he left America's Funniest Home Videos in 1997 to explore directing opportunities. His initial directorial effort was the 1996 television film For Hope, created as a memorial to his deceased sister. The following year brought his first theatrical release, Dirty Work, starring Norm MacDonald alongside Artie Lange.

Throughout the 2000s Saget largely stepped back from behind the camera, opting instead for supporting appearances across television and film. A notable 2005 engagement included a recurring satirical depiction of himself on the HBO series Entourage. Also in that year, he provided narration for the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. He took on hosting duties for the game show 1 vs. 100 from 2006 through 2008, followed by a 13-episode stint on Surviving Suburbia in 2009.

The year 2013 saw the release of his inaugural comedy album, That's What I'm Talkin' About, which earned a Grammy nomination in the Best Comedy Album category. Saget joined the cast of Netflix's Fuller House revival in 2016. His next comedy record, Zero to Sixty, appeared in 2017. On January 9, 2022, Bob Saget passed away at the age of 65 while at a hotel in Orlando, Florida.
