Biography
For over four decades, bass player Bobby Dick has brought vitality to Northern New York State through his Glens Falls-based ensemble Bobby Dick and the Sundowners. The group presents itself as "the cover band's cover band" while delivering an energetic blend of reinterpreted standards from Elvis Presley, the Beach Boys, the Beatles, Bob Marley, and Frank Sinatra together with current dance selections from Creed, Lenny Kravitz, Foo Fighters, and Sugar Ray.
Dick launched Bobby Dick and the Sundowners in 1962 specifically for CYO dances and high school proms, and the original roster of Jimmy Wilcox on vocals and drums, Ed Placidi on lead guitar, and Scott Price on lead guitar and vocals has stayed unchanged. Although the majority of their work has occurred at private parties and modest gatherings, the band has also logged notable appearances, including a tour with Dion And The Belmonts in the early 1960s and opening sets for the Rolling Stones, Dave Clark Five, Tina Turner, Jimi Hendrix, and the Monkees.
