Biography
Pianist Bobby Gosh launched his career after rapidly honed skills earned him a spot touring with vocalist Kitty Kallen while still sixteen. Relocating from Reading, Pennsylvania, to New York City, he enrolled at Juilliard and played nightclub dates until lyricist Sammy Cahn caught one of his performances. The pair quickly bonded and began collaborating on material, an association that soon introduced Gosh to Paul Anka. Their immediate rapport resulted in Gosh joining Anka’s team as pianist and songwriting partner. The duo circled the globe on tour, and Gosh supplied the original piano-and-vocal demo of “My Way” that reached Frank Sinatra. He later secured a Polydor deal and cut two solo albums, after which he worked for multiple other labels in both songwriting and performance capacities. Additional stage work brought him together with Billy Joel and Barbra Streisand, while several of his compositions appeared in the films Big and Mighty Aphrodite. Among those pieces was “Welcome to Our World of Toys,” now heard throughout every FAO Schwarz location across the United States. Gosh continues to release recordings from time to time and operates a studio whose clients have included Björk.
