Born in London in 1939, Bobby Harrison launched his musical path as drummer for the proto-prog outfit Procol Harum. After exiting that ensemble he assembled the band Freedom, appearing on four of its albums from 1970 through 1972. The next year brought session work on releases by Patrick Campbell and Matthew Fisher. In 1974 he joined Snafu, cutting three albums with the group—the first being its self-titled debut issued that year and the final one All Funked Up, which arrived in 1975. Harrison’s own solo album Funkist also surfaced the same year. He contributed to the 1978 album Nobody’s Business by the identically named band and, in the mid-’80s, released Solid Silver alongside the Icelandic group Mezzoforte. Bobby Harrison died on January 10, 2022, at the age of 82.
