Biography
Alberto De Benedetti, who performs as Bobby Soul, built his reputation as a leading DJ devoted to soul and funk throughout the 1980s while anchoring Genoa’s music community from the early through the middle years of the 1990s. He supplied vocals for the ragga outfit Sensaciou, the funk ensemble Blindosbarra, and the avant-garde a cappella jazz quintet Le Voci Atroci, along with numerous additional ventures, before issuing his first album under his own name, Draghi Rossi & Buchi Neri, in 2007. Although conceived as a solo statement, the record drew generous participation from musicians he had previously partnered with, among them Sensaciou’s Bob Quadrilli, across its tracks, one of which reinterpreted the Battisti-Mogol composition “Un Uomo Che Ti Ama.”
